Wilma R. Scully passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 92,after a long and happy life. Wilma was the beloved wife of the late David D. Scully, with whom she shared a joyful 67 years of marriage. Wilma was pre-deceased by her loving son, Scott. Born in Taunton, Massachusetts, Wilma was the daughter of the late Alwin C. and Magaret Mae Rivard. She was the dear sister of the late Lorraine R. McCormack. Wilma graduated from Taunton High school in 1951. After graduating, she embarked on her career as a well-respected medical secretary in Taunton. Wilma thoroughly enjoyed her profession, and took immense pride in the opportunity she was given. In 1969, Wilma and David left the Taunton area for a big move to New Jersey, where David had accepted a position. They left behind many close friends and family. Wilma was able to resume her career in New Jersey, and again in Florida with much success. Retirement brought Wilma and David back to New England, settling in Cotuit, Massachusetts. They made their way back to Taunton several years ago. Together, Wilma and David treasured the lasting friendships they forged throughout their lives. Wilma was an avid reader, a good listener, and had a fondness for dogs. She enjoyed a good quip, a challenging crossword puzzle and appreciated the kind gestures of others. Wilma made it a point to learn the names of those she met, and kept them etched in her memory. Wilma is survived by her niece, Carol Cunningham her husband Dennis, and their son Conor, of Raynham, as well as her nephew, John McCormack, his wife Mary, and their children, Ali, Lauren, Julianne, Zachary and Catherine, of Marietta, GA Wilma is also survived by her loving Scully relatives, including Albert Scully and his wife Kathleen of Florida, Virginia Davitt, Katherine Wood, Judith Kelley, Mary Levesque and her husband Paul, brother-in law Fred Potoczak, sister- in-law Kathleen Scully all of Taunton and their families. Relatives and friends are invited to a service of remembrance at 10 am. on September 6th at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street, Taunton, MA. A visiting hour will be held from 9 to 10 am, prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in lieu of flowers in Wilma's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
