Verna E. (Murby) Frost, age 67, passed away unexpectedly at her home on September 5, 2025, in Middleboro, MA. She will be missed deeply and greatly by all those who knew her.
Born in Raynham, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Murby and Verna E. (Barker) Murby of Raynham. She is survived by her children, Verna E. Frost of Raynham and Edward C. Frost III and husband Brian J. Roberts of Dorchester; her cherished grandson, Nevyn N. Bourke of Raynham; and her sister, Donna M. (Murby) Furman and her husband Stephen P. Furman of Raynham. She was preceded in death by her brother Peter E. Murby of Abington.
Verna lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her passions, creativity, and care for others. She attended Bridgewater-Raynham High School, where she was known as a talented pompom girl, graduating in 1976. During her high school years, she also studied at Labaron Hair Academy in Brockton and went on to begin her career as a hairdresser at Del’s Salon. She later worked as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service from 1986 to 1993, where she met her lifelong best friend, Nancy Upham.
In her 30's, Verna was diagnosed with the rare and degenerative Tangier’s disease. Ever the optimist, she always remained in high spirits no matter how difficult it was as her disease progressed. She even courageously participated in medical studies to help advance research for others affected by the condition.
An avid animal lover, Verna had a lifelong bond with her pets and often rescued animals in need, giving them a safe and loving home. She enjoyed photography, capturing the world through her lens, and had a special love for Halloween, where she expressed her creativity through elaborate costumes and entering contests. A gardener at heart, Verna found peace in tending to her plants, and in the summertime, she was happiest at the pool or beach basking in the sun, always chasing the perfect tan. She also had a love of jewelry and was known for her sharp eye and playful haggling when buying new pieces.
Verna cherished evenings out with family and friends. In her younger days, she could be found socializing at the Orchid of Hawaii or dancing late into the night at the Inn for All Seasons, often alongside her best friend Nancy. She also found joy in cooking shows, especially those hosted by Rachael Ray, and even named one of her beloved dogs after the celebrity chef.
