Timothy M. Carey passed away at his home in Taunton on August 17, 2024, his
65th birthday, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Ann M. (Balfe) and James W. Carey.
Tim lost his beloved mother at age 10, which had a profound effect upon him
throughout his entire life. He was very close to his dad, sharing many similar
interests, such as hunting, fishing, sports and gardening. They both enjoyed
following the Red Sox and Patriots, whether they won or lost.
Attending St. Mary’s School and Taunton Catholic Middle School, he graduated from
Bristol Plymouth Regional Vocational School in 1978. There, he was an allscholastic
football player and excelled in track and field as well. For over 35 years,
Tim was a gifted machinist and toolmaker, crafting specialized parts that required
exact and specific measurements.
In his younger days, he participated in motorcycle rallies, demolition derbies,
enjoyed pig roasts and hanging out with his good buddies. Known for his fun loving
nature, he lived life to the fullest. Always a treasured friend and neighbor to those
who got to know him. He was the first one to help others - generous and giving of
himself.
Lovingly referred to as the “cool uncle”, he was adored by all of his nieces and
nephews. Bright and quick-witted - Timmy’s dry sense of humor was beyond
compare. Even when dealing with the most difficult times in his life, he could find a
way to make others laugh. His Irish goodbyes were legendary.
The youngest of six children. He meant the world to his siblings. Listening and
supporting them in whatever they needed - he was there for each of them no matter
the circumstances. The most forgiving person, almost to a fault.
Tim never sought attention for himself. He was a tough, stubborn Irishman, which
served him well during his ruthless battle with an aggressive cancer. Never
complaining, never asking for anything, he was independent and feisty to the end.
His family is absolutely heartbroken. He leaves behind his siblings: Philip F. (Ellen)
Carey, James M. (Mary) Carey, Jane M. (James) Trucchi, and Kevin W. (Vicky)
Carey. Predeceased by Dennis Patrick Carey.
His family would like to thank Bristol Hospice nurses, especially Christine. Services
will be private.
“...and until we meet again, Tim, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
