Shirley (Jordan) J. Sanborn

Shirley Jane (Jordan) Sanborn, age 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 24, 2024. Shirley was the daughter of Archie and Grace (Ellis) Jordan and the sister of the late Dorothy “Dottie” Byrne. She graduated from Taunton High School in 1953 and went on to work at Devine Milk Laboratories and the Taunton Water Department. Shirley was the wife of the late W. Gerard “Gerry” Sanborn for 55 years. They lived all over the country, and even spent three years in India, going wherever Gerry’s job took them. Shirley was a beloved mother, aunt, and great aunt. She loved musical theater, animals, especially elephants, and helping anyone who needed her. She was a dedicated supporter of many charitable organizations, including the Boyden Refuge, Winslow Animal Sanctuary, Wounded Warriors, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, just to name a few. She also loved taking care of her dog, Maggie. Shirley is survived by her daughter Stacey Waters and Stacey’s husband Tom, and her aunt Barbara Thompson, all of Taunton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 1st from 5-7 pm at O‘Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street, Taunton. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2nd at 11:00 am, also at O’Keefe-Wade, with a graveside service to follow at Mayflower Hill Cemetery.
