In Boston, Robert J.F. Carpenter, 72, of Norton, MA, passed away on Thursday, March 12th 2026 after a long battle with cancer and other medical issues. Born in Newton, MA, the son of the late Peter Carpenter and Sarah (Foster) Carpenter. He was the husband of the late Christine (Swaim) Carpenter. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved New England sports. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins and loved attending games when he was able to. He loved playing bingo and was sober for 46 years with many friends. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army. His wife Christine passed away in 2008 leaving a hole in his heart that was never filled. Born in Newton, MA, he lived in Italy for a time as a child with his parents who were lifelong teachers. He was always quick with a jeopardy level fact and lived the majority of his life in Waltham and Norwood until finally settling in Norton. He is survived by his children Steven Hornsby and his wife Susan Mackey of Norton, MA, Amy Hornsby of Attleboro, MA. Robert’s reason for living was his grandchildren Jasia Mackey, Kiley Hornsby, and Thomas Hornsby of Norton. He was blessed to meet his great grandchildren Henry and Penelope Lavoie of Norton. He will be sorely missed. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Saturday, March 28th from 2-4 pm.
