In Taunton, Richard P. Cordeiro, age 70, passed away on May 16, 2026 following a lengthy period of declining health while surrounded by his loved ones. Richard was the husband of his devoted wife Karen (Moniz). He was born in Taunton, the son of the late John Cordeiro and Hilda Souza. Richard was a resident of Taunton and formerly of Falmouth. He was educated in Cape Cod schools and a graduate of Bourne High School. Richard worked for the Department of Corrections until his retirement, later working for Morton Hospital security and the Taunton Police Department for the parking enforcement division. He was an Elvis fan, enjoyed watching westerns, working on cars, doing yard work, playing computer games, and spending time with his family, especially his cherished Grandchildren. In addition to his wife Karen, Rick leaves his children: Amy Rosa of North Providence, RI, Fay Viera and husband Arthur of Taunton, and his late son Jarred Cordeiro. He also leaves his siblings: Norma Blake and husband Richard of Falmouth, John Cordeiro of Taunton, Kelley Hendricks and husband Robert of Mashpee. He also leaves his Grandchildren: Brandyn Cordeiro of Taunton, Jordan Silva of Taunton, and Alex, Sophia and Enzo Rosa of North Providence. Richard also leaves several Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Thursday, May 21st from 9-11AM. A funeral home service will be at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Donations may be made in Richard’s memory in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
