Paul Ferris Obituary

In Boston, on January 6, 2025, Paul N. Ferris, age 75, passed away peacefully after a period of declining health, with his devoted wife by his side. Paul was the beloved husband of Maureen (Flanagan) Ferris, with whom he shared over 52 wonderful years of marriage. Born to the late Manuel and Lorraine (Emond) Ferris, Paul cherished his family deeply. He leaves behind his sons, Brian, and Eric and his wife Jillian, as well as his three granddaughters, Addison, Harper, and Reese. Paul was also a loving brother to Ronald Bettencourt and his wife Rosemary, Gerald Ferris, and Barry Ferris. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember his kind and gentle nature. Paul dedicated over 30 years of his life as a firefighter, serving his community with courage and commitment. He was also a highly regarded builder, known for his craftsmanship and integrity. A proud graduate of Taunton High School, Paul went on to earn his Associate Degree in Fire Science from Massasoit Community College, a testament to his passion for service and learning. Paul found joy in mentoring young athletes as a coach for the Expos Little League and Baybank Babe Ruth teams. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his sons’ athletic journeys, cheering them on at every level, from middle school to college. Whether it was playing golf with Brian and fellow firefighters, sharing laughs over a game of “45” with Eric and “The Crew” at the VFW, or hanging around at the pool with the kids, Paul’s love for life and connection to others was undeniable. His greatest pride and joy were his beloved “Grandgirls,” with whom he cherished every moment. Whether watching their activities or simply spending time together, they were the light of his life. Paul was known for his playful love of scratch tickets and Keno, a small reminder of his easygoing and fun-loving nature. A devoted communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Paul’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life, providing him with strength and peace. To know Paul was to witness his deep love for his family, his unwavering faith, and his genuine care for his community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Paul’s calling hours will be Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780.
