Mark Seekell Obituary

In Fall River, Mark S. Seekell, age 69, passed away at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a brief illness with cancer. Mark is survived by his wife Valerie (Dow) Seekell of Seekonk, formerly of Taunton and North Carolina. Mark was born in Taunton, the son of late John C. Seekell Sr. and Evelyn and Roger Hamel. Mark was educated in Middleboro schools and a graduate of Middleboro High School, class of 1973. He served his country honorably while in the U.S. Navy from 1973-1979. He worked as a fireman on the USS Blue Ridge with the rank of Petty Officer third class. Mark was employed for the City of Taunton at Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant for 30 years, working as an instrument technician. Mark was a member of the Upland Riders Motorcycle Club in Plympton MA. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating, fishing, and above all spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Mark is survived by his children; Christopher J. Seekell and his wife Kim Johnson of Providence, RI, Adam D. Seekell of Dighton, and Shannon M. Thomas of Taunton, his grandchildren; Aiden Joubert, Madison Thornton, Logan Seekell, Thomas Thornton, and Connor Seekell. He also leaves his siblings; Sandra Seekell of Norton, John “Jack” Seekell Jr. of Fryeberg, ME, and the late James Peter Seekell. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at St. Francis Cemetery on Glebe St. in Taunton. Visiting hours are kindly omitted.
