Maria Idalina DeMelo Obituary

In Taunton, Maria Idalina I. DeMelo, age 79, passed away peacefully at Morton Hospital on June 24, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family. Maria Idalina was born in St. Miguel, in the Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel Tome and Josefina (Mauricio) Tome. Maria Idalina had been a resident of Taunton since immigrating to the U.S. in 1968. She was educated in Portugal schools and employed at the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro for more than 30 years. Maria Idalina enjoyed walking, watching the food channel, a devoted and faithful person that always attended masses at Annunciation of the Lord Church. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her and she cherished the time spent with them. Maria Idalina is survived by her beloved daughter Christina Franca and her husband Vasco of Taunton. She also leaves her grandchildren Dominic and Marcus of Taunton, brother; Adelino Tome and his late wife Louisa of Taunton, and the late Lurdes Pimental , Maria Fatima Correia, Manuel and Jose Tome. Funeral from the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Weds., July 3rd at 9 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours on Tuesday from 5-7 pm. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
