Maria (Teixeira) L. DeSousa

In Middleboro, of Taunton, September 11, 2024 Maria L.T. (Teixeira) DeSousa wife of John DeSousa died at Oakhill Health Care at the age of 70. Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Portugal and daughter to the late Vasco and Maria Teixeira. She was a graduate of Taunton High School class of 1970 and Stonehill College with her degree in Accounting and Business. Maria was a self employed accountant and she was a part time translator for many local hospitals. She also owned and operated Portuguese Bazzar in Fall River and her Ceramic Shop in her home. She was a former member of the Sacred Heart Woman’s Guild and enjoyed collecting crystals and stones. Maria was the sister of Vasco Teixeira and his wife Bela of Taunton and Albertino Teixeira and his wife Maria Antonieta of Taunton. Aunt of Andrea, Paula, Michelle and Jeffrey. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Tuesday, September 17th from 9-10:30 AM follow by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Anthony’s Church in Taunton at 11 AM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090-6011.
