In Taunton, Manuel Martin, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2024 while surrounded by his loving family. Manuel was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan (McCarthy) Martin. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Anthony Martin and Izaura (Andrade Martin. Manuel was a resident of Taunton and formerly of Berkley. He attended Berkley schools and was a graduate of Dighton Rehoboth High School. Manuel was a longtime employee of the Merkins Chocolate Factory in Mansfield, where he was the supervisor of the shipping department, he also ran his own landscaping company until recently when his health declined. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching western movies, playing cards, working on hot rod cars, snowmobiling, hosting and cooking for holidays, and above all spending time with his family. Manuel is survived by his children and nieces who were raised as his children; Scott Martin of Lakeville, Paul Martin of Taunton, Wayne Martin and his wife Audrey of Mansfield, Paulette Corriveau of Forestdale, Christine Morris and husband Jeffrey of Taunton, Michelle Corriveau and companion Vinnie of N.Y., and Joanne Matos and husband Manuel of East Taunton. He also leaves his siblings; Anthony Martin Sr. and wife Sheila of Randolph, VT., John Martin and wife Priscilla of Beaumont, CA., Richard Martin and his late wife Patricia of Berkley, and Carmen Martin of Taunton. He also leaves his 10 loving grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday, September 30th from 9-10:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton at 11 am. Burial in Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton. In lieu of flowers donations in Manny’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090-6011.
