Lawrence Caverio Obituary

In Berkley, Lawrence Caverio, age 77, passed away peacefully in his home following a brief illness on February 23, 2025. Lawrence was the husband of Jane (Tomawski) Caverio of Berkley, sharing 54 years of marriage. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Manuel Caverio and Mildred (Haupert) Caverio. Lawrence had been a resident of Berkley since 1987. He was educated in Taunton schools and later for his second class steam engineer’s license. Lawrence was employed as an engineer for the Foxboro State and Wrentham State Schools. Larry was humble and compassionate. He was a dedicated blood donor, having donated 27 gallons in his lifetime. He volunteered for many years at the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Taunton. Larry enjoyed attending Seekonk Speedway races and local car cruise nights. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Larry’s passion was playing the trumpet. One of his favorite memories was when he traveled with his high school to perform at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City. As a young man, Larry enjoyed performing with his band The Allegros. Later, he joined the Taunton City Band. He could often be heard around the house practicing his music, and he was known to call his children and grandchildren on their birthdays to play “Happy Birthday” on his horn. But, most of all, Larry was a thoughtful, loving husband, Dad, and Grandad, who especially enjoyed spending time with family. We will always remember the things Larry enjoyed like playing horseshoes, his collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia, and spending time together at countless family parties. The party’s not over, because Larry’s legacy lives on through the lives of his loved ones. In addition to his beloved wife Jane, Larry leaves his children Justin Caverio and his wife Michele of East Providence, RI and Marnie Trombi and her husband Nicholas of VA. He also leaves his cherished Grandchildren; Jayden Caverio, Jamason Caverio, and Caleb Trombi. Larry was the brother in law of Ronald Tomawski and wife Barbara of Berkley and Paul Tomawski and wife Patricia of Taunton. Visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Saturday, March 8th from 10-12 pm. Burial will be at a later date at Berkley Common Cemetery.
