Joseph L. DaCosta, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born on April 18, 1970, in Taunton, MA, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Gil N. DaCosta and Bertha M. DaCosta (Rezendes). A graduate of Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School Joseph became a tradesman early in his career as a technician, cabinetry, and mechanics. He later dedicated much of his career to serving as a fleet mechanic for Bloom Bus Company in Taunton before taking on a role as a Class A Petroleum tanker driver for Volta Oil in Plymouth. Joseph’s steadfast commitment and tireless effort were hallmarks of his career, consistently evident in his roles at Bloom Bus Company and Volta Oil. An avid enthusiast of sports cars and motorcycles, Joseph took great pride in his Corvette, Mustang GT350 and Harley-Davidson, which reflected his love for speed, style and craftsmanship. He was also a passionate fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Additionally, he enjoyed RV camping on the beach with friends and his vacations in Florida, especially Miami Beach, where he enjoyed the beauty of the coast. Above all, Joseph was devoted to his family, finding his greatest joy in the love and memories shared. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Gil N. DaCosta and Bertha M. DaCosta (Rezendes). He is survived by his siblings Gil F. DaCosta and wife Kristine of Taunton, James DaCosta and wife Samantha of Lakeville, and AnnMarie Cosmo and husband William of Taunton; nieces and nephews Jessica, Nathan, Kathleen, Brandon, Alissa, Eden, Derren, Logan, Matthew, and Kiernan; and many other family, both immediate and extended. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to honor Joseph’s life on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at St. Joseph’s cemetery, 475 E. Britannia St, Taunton.
