In Fall River, John F. Marsden, age 76, passed away at Charlton Memorial Hospital on August 22, 2024. John was born in Taunton, the son of the late Raymond Marsden and June (Smith) Marsden. John had resided in Dighton for over 30 years. He attended Taunton schools, class of 1965. He was a graduate of the Bristol County College in Fire Science. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War while in the U.S. Marine Corp. John served in Vietnam with the 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions, the 1st and 5th Marines, 3rd 8 Btry, and 1st 175 Gun Btry, from February 1968 to November 1970. He participated for 8 major campaign periods and received the Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Service Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, 2 Purple Hearts, Good Conduct Ribbon, Army Achievement Ribbon, Vietnamese Civic Action Ribbon, and a PLOC and National Guard Ribbon. He worked for the City of Taunton, serving as the Fire Department Lieutenant, retiring from the Taunton Oakland Station after 30 years. John was a member of the Baseball League Cape Cod Codders. He enjoyed golfing and playing pool. John leaves his loving partner Janis Marvel and his children, Timothy Marsden and his wife Violeta of FL, and Amy Marsden and her partner Ricardo Morales of S.C. and his former wife Susan Marsden and partner Brian Brooks of S.C. John was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Marsden. He also leaves his Mother in law Eleanor DeMello and also leaves his sister in laws; Linda DeMello of Raynham, Mary Ann DeMello of Fairhaven, and Nancy DeMello of Raynham. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren; Owen, Ziva, Magnus, Eric, Christopher, Sean, Denis, and Adrian, great grandchildren; Enzo, Anahi and Giani. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday, August 30th from 4-7 pm. Burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday September 30th at 9:30 AM.
