James D Bryer

James D. Bryer “Jim” was born on April 28, 1953 in Middleboro, Massachusetts. He passed away on July 28, 2026 at the age of 73 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his father Donald Bryer, mother Barbara Murphy (Bryer), and sister Susan Bryer. He is also predeceased by the love of his life his wife Cheryl Bryer whom he lost in 2015 after her battle with cancer. Jim grew up in Raynham and was a graduate of Bridgewater Raynham High School where he excelled in many sports. He served time in the United States Navy, where he went all over the world. Little did he know when he came back he would meet his future wife and future children who were his neighbors across the street. He worked as a Teamsters Union CDL truck driver before his retirement and also helped his wife run her business Tanning Etc. in Raynham for many years. In his retirement he was part of multiple softball leagues , a pool league and a bowling league. He spent a lot of his time in the last 6 years at the American Legion in Berkley where he would volunteer and hang out in his spare time. He made many dear friendships in his activities that he loved, and he was always on the go. He most loved hunting and being in the woods with his cousin Stanley Achorn and son Jason of Bucksport, Maine. He enjoyed being at the ocean , being around a campfire and spending quality time with his family and friends. He and his wife Cheryl spent many summers along the Cape Cod Canal at Bourne Scenic Park, where they had a permanent campsite for over 30 years. They also took many trips to their favorite place Ogunquit, Maine. Jim always looked on the bright side of every situation. He truly was the happiest person alive and he made each day count. His famous words were “life is no dress rehearsal, the show must go on. “ To know Jim was to love Jim, and he had an infectious energy, and everybody who met him loved him. Jim is survived by his daughters Holly Bryer of Lakeville and Kelley Poliquin and her husband Paul Poliquin of Lakeville. Grandfather to his twin grandchildren Mikayla Poliquin and fiancé Chris Annese of Billerica and Miranda Poliquin and fiancé Cole Bernier of New Bedford. He was the brother of Bobby Bryer of Brighton, Uncle “Coob” to Jamie Bryer and twin daughters Autumn and Luna of Boston, Robert Bryer of Boston, and Katherine Andrews of Rutland, Vermont. He also leaves behind cousins and many close friends. Everyone who loved Jim is welcome to attend a graveside service on Friday August 7, 2026 that will be held at Pleasant Street Cemetery located at 190 Pleasant Street in Raynham, Massachusetts 02767 at 11 am. A celebration of life will be held following the service at 12:30 pm at the Berkley American Legion Post 121 located at 80 Myricks Street in Berkley, Massachusetts 02779.
