The family of Helen Lousie (Horton) Duarte of Harwich, MA is saddened to announce her passing on March 12, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
Born in Taunton, MA on March 30, 1940, Helen was the daughter of the late Maynard F. Horton Sr. and Thelma L. (Quackenbush) Horton and was a graduate of Dighton High school, class of 1958.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert L. Duarte and their daughter Heather Duarte; her brother Maynard F. Horton, Jr. and his wife Barbara; her sister Barbara (Horton) Calpin and her husband James; and her sister Joyce (Horton) Stephenson and her husband Steve.
She is survived by her sister Shirley (Horton) Rose of Millbrook, AL; sons, Eric W. Duarte and wife Brenda-Lee of Maryville, TN; Peter R. Duarte and wife Tina of North Dighton, MA; grandchildren, John Boulay of Newport, VT; Emma Duarte of North Brookfield, NY; Sarah Duarte of North Dighton, MA; Dykota-Lynn Wilder of Maryville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen formerly worked as a secretary at Beckwith Middle School in Rehoboth, MA; James H. Moore and Sons and David Blurton Construction in Brownsville, TN, and lastly as a title clerk at American Auto Auction in North Dighton, MA. She was an active member of the Garden Club of Harwich, and the Harwich Sit and Fit Program. She loved baking, gardening, traveling and spending time with family. She was known for her unwavering support.
Helen will always be remembered for her kind heart and ability to make everyone feel loved. A private family burial will be held in Rehoboth, MA.
