Harry Soares Jr. Obituary

Harry Soares Jr., beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on January 13, 2024 at the age of 80. He was born on April 2, 1943, in Taunton to the late Harry and Irene Soares (Dutra). Harry was preceded in death by his cherished granddaughter, Brittany Freitas. Harry's greatest companion was his beloved Pomeranian, Foxy. They shared a special bond that brought immense joy to both their lives. Foxy was always by his side, providing comfort during difficult times and moments of triumph. Harry was a dedicated father to his children, Harry Soares III, Kevin Soares and his wife Melissa, Cheri Silveira and her significant other Todd Dion, Jamie Perry and her husband Robert, Corrie Roy and her husband Jason, and his stepdaughter Lisa Costa and her husband Bruce. His love for his children knew no bounds, and he took great pride in their accomplishments. Harry adored his grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. He leaves behind Ryan Silveira, Justin Silveira (Jake), Courtney Soares, Samantha Silveira, Stephen Smith, Brayden Perry, Lucas, Morgan, and Julian Soares. His love extended to his five great-grandchildren, Landon Silveira, Cole Daly, Charleigh, Brayleigh, and Madison Silveira. Harry's unconditional love and guidance will forever be treasured by each of them. In addition to his immediate family, Harry leaves behind his partner, Rose Maclean. He was the loving brother to Robert Soares and a caring uncle to Robert Soares Jr. Harry was the nephew of Virginia Amaral (Jumbo) and Helen White (Honey). He had the utmost respect for his Aunt Honey, always seeking her guidance and wisdom. Additionally, Harry leaves behind several cousins. Harry's professional life revolved around his passion for automobiles. As the owner and operator of Harry's Auto Wrecking for 55 years, he dedicated himself to his craft. He took pride in teaching his grandsons, Ryan and Jake (Justin), the ins and outs of the towing business, passing on his knowledge and expertise to the next generation. In his leisure time, Harry enjoyed visiting his friends' auto shops to "shoot the shit" and exchange stories and laughs. He cherished his trips to his New Hampshire home. Harry was an avid fan of NASCAR and loved watching the races, often leaving in the middle of family gatherings to watch “his races”. A private funeral service was held to honor Harry's memory. While his physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Harry Soares Jr. will be remembered as a loving father, a devoted grandfather, and a true friend. His legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide us all. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we find solace in the memories we shared with him.
