Gloria (Lacey) Brown, 95, of Taunton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Elisha and Evelyn (Dunning) Lacey. Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Brown.
Gloria graduated from Plymouth High School in 1947. She remained closely connected to her classmates over the decades, proudly serving on her High School Reunion Committee, as she delighted in bringing old friends together.
In 1979, Gloria and Ed designed and built their dream home in Taunton, Massachusetts. It was a contemporary-style home that was recognized for its forward-thinking architecture and was even featured in the local newspaper. She loved reminiscing about the experience of building her home and took pride in hosting numerous joyful gatherings there. Their home was a true reflection of their shared vision, style, and creativity.
Gloria was a dedicated employee for the Bristol County Registry of Deeds for 32 years. She continued her career in 1993 as a title examiner with Major & Erban for 29 years. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and genuineness earned the admiration of both colleagues and clients.
Gloria shared an enduring closeness with several families over the years. Their love, joy, friendship, and support meant the world to her. Each held a special place in her heart. Her deepest friendship was with her beloved best friend, Eileen Sherry, who passed away in 2015. Their bond was one that stood the test of time. Gloria was embraced as a member of the Sherry Family - a connection they cherished with all their hearts.
Gloria had a deep love for animals, especially her miniature poodles, who were rarely seen far from her side—and always dressed as fashionably as she was.
Known for her timeless grace and impeccable sense of style, Gloria carried herself with classic elegance. A true social butterfly, she thrived in the company of family and friends. Gloria had a passion for music and dance and followed her favorite bands. Her graceful moves and radiant energy always lit up the room. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel seen and special and her kindness left a lasting impression on countless lives.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her family and by the many dear friends she made throughout her long and vibrant life. She is survived by her sister, Donna Oakham of Taunton; her niece and nephew, Lynn and Paul; her sister-in-law, Josephine Smith of Taunton and many members of the Brown Family.
Visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street, Taunton, MA 02780 on Saturday, April 26th from 2:00–4:00 PM, with a service at 3:30 PM.
As her final wish, Gloria will be laid to rest alongside her husband in a private ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne
