George Gomes

In Milton, George Gomes, age 79, of East Taunton, MA passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on July 30, 2026. Born in Terceira, Azores, on January 12, 1947, George lived a life defined by his UNIQUE character. He was the beloved son of the late Jaimie and Filomena (deBrito) Gomes. George is survived by his cherished wife, Lucia (da Rocha) Gomes. He was the loving father of Lucy and her husband Jay, and Joshua Gomes and his wife Alison. He was also the proud grandfather of four grandchildren who adored him deeply. George was preceded in death by his brother, Jose Gomes, and his sister Cristina da Rocha. He is survived by his brother Francisco Gomes, and his sisters Filomena Pinheiro and Lucia Silva. George truly loved gardening, spending countless hours tending to his flowers and vibrant hydrangeas. Right up to his final days, he would go out to his garden to pick hydrangeas for his wife. He took great pride in shaping his yard into a beautiful work of art. In accordance with George’s wishes, he will be cremated, and no formal services were held. The family will gather privately to honor his life and memory.
