In Taunton, Frederick M. Simmons, age 91, passed away peacefully at home following a brief illness on June 25, 2026. He was the husband of the late Janice (Masse) Simmons. Frederick was born in Taunton, the son of the late Claude Simmons and Emma (Murphy) Simmons. Frederick resided in Taunton most of his life. He was educated in Taunton schools. He served his country honorably during the Korean War while in the U.S. Coast Guard. Later also serving his community for the City of Taunton retiring from the Taunton Police as a Lieutenant. Frederick was also involved in the Berkley American Legion, Post #121. He enjoyed his morning coffee at the Hart St. Dunkin Donuts, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and adopted grandchildren. Frederick is survived by his son Scott Simmons and his wife Barbara of NH and his late son Jeffrey Simmons, step daughter Dawne Warfield of NH. He was the grandfather of Michael Simmons and his partner Katelynn Ferris of Taunton, step grandchildren Craig Rogers and wife Holly, Mitchell Rogers, and Sophie Israel and husband Daniel. great grandfather of Andrew Simmons, brother of Shirley Ferreira, Francis Simmons, and the late Robert, Edward, Paul, Leo, Claude, Russell, George, and Gregory Simmons. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Cedar Knoll Cemetery, 175 Staples St., East Taunton on July 10, 2026 at 11 am. Visiting hours are kindly omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home in Taunton.
