Eugenia B. Lewry Stillwell Obituary

Eugenia B. Lewry Stillwell Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Advocate Eugenia (Jeanne) Lewry Stillwell passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family. Her 94 years of life were a beautiful testament to devotion, generosity, and the enduring strength of family bonds. Born with a warm heart and a steadfast spirit, Jeanne dedicated her life to nurturing those around her. She found her greatest joy as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, offering unwavering support, kind wisdom, and unconditional love to each generation that followed her. Her home was a gathering place—filled with laughter, homemade meals, and the quiet strength of someone who truly understood the value of togetherness. Jeanne never sought the spotlight, yet she was the foundation upon which her family was built and the steady hand that guided them through life’s moments, both joyful and difficult.. Jeanne is survived by her loving children: David E. Lewry and his wife Kathleen, Carol J. Fraise and her husband Jack, Joanne M. Lewry, and Richard T. Lewry and his wife Michele. She was a devoted grandmother to Jennifer M. Nicol and her husband David, Kathleen E. Lewry-DaRosa and her husband Jason, Nora A. Lewry and her partner Kevin Vittum, Nicholas R. T. Lewry, and Lori J. Williams and her husband Robert. Her life was further enriched by her cherished great- grandchildren: Justine A. Lewry, Julia A. Lewry-DaRosa, Alexander R. Lewry-DaRosa, Skyla M. Nicol, Cameron D. Nicol, Oliver G. Nicol, Camerin E. Williams, and Lincoln J. R. Vittum. She also had the joy of knowing her three great-great-grandchildren: Brody D. R. Robinson, Aubrey K. Robinson, and Vincent A. Augusto. who will carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and deep familial connection. Jeanne was preceded in death by her two beloved husbands, Robert E. Lewry (45 years) and Robert E. Stillwell (14 years), both of whom held special places in her heart and shared in the joys and responsibilities of raising a close-knit, loving family. Jeanne was also predeceased by her parents Maurice and Mary (Deniz) Butler, her sister Bernice “Bunny” Plant, and her dearest friend Jean Briggs. Beyond her role within the home, Jeanne built a respected career as a case manager and a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities. Her work reflected the same compassion and determination that defined her personal life—offering support, dignity, and a voice to those too often overlooked. Her advocacy changed lives and left a lasting impact in the community she served so faithfully. In addition to her devotion to family and her meaningful career, Jeanne was incredibly proud of a special personal achievement. Later in life, she pursued her education with the same determination that defined her, earning her associate degree in her 40s—a testament to her belief in lifelong learning and her commitment to growth, no matter the stage of life. Jeanne was also a vibrant member of her community, contributing her time and talents to many local organizations. She was active in the Taunton Civic Chorus, Southeastern Massachusetts Festival Chorus, Winthrop Street Baptist ChurchChoir, Taunton Art Association, Taunton Historical Society, the Pioneer Girls of Winthrop Street Baptist Church, the ARC of Taunton, and the Franklin Antique Auto Club. Whether through music, art, history, or advocacy, Jeanne gave her energy wholeheartedly and found joy in connecting with others. Jeanne’s legacy is carried forward in the love and memories she leaves behind, in every family tradition and story told, and in every act of quiet kindness passed from one generation to the next. A private family service will be held in her honor.
