Elizabeth M Torres

Elizabeth (Betty) M. Torres of North Dighton, died at age 96 on January 13, 2024 at Morton Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Milton A. and Catherine J. (Spillane) Sherman of North Dighton, MA. She was educated in Dighton schools and graduated from Dighton High School in 1945. Elizabeth went on to complete the Morton Hospital Nursing Program in 1948 and worked as a registered nurse at Morton Hospital for 38 years before retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra parish (formerly St Joseph’s) in North Dighton. She enjoyed baking, reading, playing cards, completing crossword puzzles in ink, a master scrabble player, Bingo and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox. She was married to the late Philbert Torres. She is survived by her two children Steven A. Torres of North Dighton, MA, and Cynthia M. Torres of Waterboro, ME, a granddaughter Melissa Torres, great granddaughter Sophia Torres, and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth is predeceased by her brothers Robert F. Sherman and Milton Thomas Sherman and her sisters Jean Daniel and Geraldine Gowan. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at St Francis Cemetery, 24 Glebe St, Taunton, MA.
