Donna Viera Obituary

Donna Viera, 70, of East Taunton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on 3/12/2026 after a long illness. Donna was born on December 3rd, 1955, to Beatrice and John Viera in Taunton, Massachusetts. She attended St. Anthony’s for grammar school, Bishop Cassidy for high school and studied medical transcription and culinary arts at Johnson & Wales College. A brilliant mind who could define medical terminology better than most doctors, Donna brought her talent and skills to a variety of medical practices from the VA Medical Hospital in Brockton to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Later in life, she pivoted and worked with her sister, Lynne, as a brilliant editor bringing food stories and recipes to life online through videos of home cooks (including herself and her mother), chefs, farmers and fishmongers. Later in life, Donna’s remarkable kindness and selflessness included the dedicated care she gave to her mother as her primary caregiver. Donna’s heart grew every moment she spent with dogs - both family and friend’s pets throughout her life (Buddy, Pete, Max, Amelia, Ginger) and every dog she encountered on her travels - at Massasoit State Park, the beach, dog parks, city streets - everywhere. Their unconditional love, intelligence and love of life brought Donna great joy. Donna had a penchant for vintage clothing and wore it well - always looking beautiful, stylish and chic. She had savant knowledge of TV trivia which was a personal passion, and loved Motown music which was her personal soundtrack. Donna is survived by her mother, Beatrice Viera, and her 6 siblings and their families, Carol Viera (and husband Norman Bolter), John Viera (and wife Janice Viera, their children John Viera III & Mallory Frank, husband Steve Frank and their children, Stevie & Morgan), James Viera, Richard Viera (and wife Susan Viera), Tom (and wife Renee Viera, daughter Kirby and stepson Allen Swift and his wife Laura Jaycox and their son Nathan) & Lynne Viera. Donna requested no services but please celebrate her beautiful, precious life in your own way. She would be most appreciative of donations to the MSPCA (Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in her memory.
