Cynthia Claire Blackwell

Cynthia, Claire (Holmes/Coffey) Blackwell, eighty-eight of Taunton passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at the Hope Hospice Center in Providence. Cindy died of natural causes following a challenging season of heart and lung issues. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 34 years, John Blackwell Sr. of Taunton Ma. Born December 23, 1937, to the late Elsie Bowden and Theodore Rolfe. Cindy was born in Maine but resided in the Boston area for her childhood. She was a majorette at Brookline High School prior to graduating in 1955. After High School, Cindy worked at Rockland Trust Bank and entered a career in modeling where her beauty and poise were shared with others until she married Robert Andrew Coffey in 1957. She then began her best chapter of life, becoming a mother and having four beautiful children. Allan, Andrea, Danny, and Deanna were her pride and joy all her life and remained close to her until she took her last breath. During her time on earth Cindy wore many hats. From model to bank teller, wife, mother, waitress, nanny and grandmother, she wore them all proudly. Cindy took pride in all that she did, especially caring for her home and baking cakes and cookies for her family members. Cindy adored her husband John and together they created many special memories such as traveling, attending country concerts, and enjoying delicious food. She often requested beef barley soup and shrimp scampi made by her soul mate, her one and only, John; lovingly known as “Papa”. On other occasions, Cindy and John would visit their favorite local restaurants on their car rides to Plymouth. In more recent years, Cindy was happiest when the family stopped by her home for a Sunday afternoon visit which always included long hugs, sarcastically humorous conversations, hot coffee, and sweet chocolates. She will be fondly remembered for her love of family. She treasured each member of her family and had a unique relationship with each one. She took immeasurable pride in her grandchildren and showed them the greatest of love and appreciation. In addition to her husband (John Blackwell Sr.) she is survived by her four children: Allan Coffey and his wife Lynn of Attleboro Ma.; daughter Andrea Mercado of Attleboro, Ma.; son Danny Coffey and his wife Sandi of Sandwich, N. H. and Deanna Auger and her husband Jim of Brockton, Ma., and former Daughter-in-law Michele Pecoraro of Plympton, Ma. Cindy was a proud grandmother to Matt and his wife Michelle (Killian), Sean, Sarah, Amanda, Jaime Andrew, Alex, Jeremiah, Amanda, and John as well as several great grandchildren. The family is thankful for the assistance of Cindy’s doctors, the care of the visiting nurses and the staff at Hope Hospice in Providence. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor Saturday April 18th at 11 a.m. at 11 Otis Street, Mansfield Ma. This is the new House of Bread Church location. All who would like to attend are welcome to come and celebrate Cindy with us. Light refreshments will be provided.
