Charles Lasher Obituary

Charles F. Lasher, of Manchester, New Hampshire, beloved husband of Marie (Malone) Lasher passed away at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester on February 1, 2026. Charles was born in Waterbury, Connecticut to Mary (Jordan) Lasher and Frederick Lasher; his family moved to Middlebury, Connecticut shortly after his birth. Charles received his B.A and M.A. in history from the University of Connecticut; he then graduated from the Catholic University of America with a Ph.D. in medieval history. Charles was a professor of history at Notre Dame College in Manchester for thirty-two years. He served as Dean, Division of Liberal Foundations, then Dean of Humanities. His love of history and his ability to convey that to his students, were the joys of his life. After retirement, Charles taught part time at various colleges in New Hampshire, including St. Anselm College, Southern New Hampshire University and the University System of New Hampshire. He published several articles in Sixteenth Century Journal, Church History, Catholic Historical Review, and History Teacher. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA on Tuesday, February 10th. Visitation will be from 9-10 am. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Parish Church, 372 Middleboro Avenue, East Taunton, MA at 11 am, followed by interment at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton, MA.
