Charles Browning Jr.

Charles William Browning Jr., 75, of East Taunton, passed peacefully at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 10, 2024. He was born at Morton Hospital in Taunton to the late Charles Browning Sr. and Louretta (Pinto) Browning. Charles was the husband of the late Carol (Lynch) Browning of East Taunton. He graduated from Taunton High School. For many years, he worked at the former Haskon Company before obtaining his license as a Class 2 Fireman. He worked as a boiler operator at Good Samaritan Hospital until his retirement at age 71. Chuck was skilled in many areas and enjoyed hobbies of all kinds, especially hunting and fishing. Twice he got to experience the Alaskan wilderness where he embarked on adventurous fishing and hunting trips. Years later, he was still raving about the salmon he caught and how he got to enjoy it fresh out of the river. He was an avid foodie and loved cooking, especially Southern food due to his country roots. He made a fantastic Christmas breakfast that was always complete with his famous strawberries and biscuits. Chuck also loved country music, attending concerts, clamming, gardening, camping, chatting, telling stories, and making people laugh. He had a story or a song for any situation. Above all, Chuck loved his family and friends. He leaves behind his two beloved children, Denise Rodrigue and Charles Browning III, of East Taunton. His grandchildren, Kimberly Browning-Durant of Winthrop, Maine; Alexis Earle of Attleboro; Charles Browning IV of Middleboro; Jared Browning of Middleboro; Kaitlyn Rodrigue of Taunton; and Britni Rodrigue of Taunton. He also leaves his sister, Priscilla Gagne of East Taunton. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780, on Friday, March 15, from 9 to 11 a.m. A funeral home service will be at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.
