Bertha Marie DaCosta, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home on June 8th, 2024. She was the loving wife of Gil N. DaCosta for 63 years and sister of her late brothers Mario, Francis, Joseph and Raymond Rezendes.
Bertha was born in Faial de Terra, Sao Miguel, Azores. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Virginia (Pereira) Rezendes.
She retired from Texas Instruments after 20 years and became a caregiver to her husband Gil and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church where she enjoyed church community functions.
Bertha was full of life and enjoyed spending time with family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a passion for bringing people together, hosting gatherings, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Friendship was important to her and she loved meeting new people and could find a friend in anyone that was around her. She loved the simple things in life and was a loving, kind, empathetic and compassionate soul and always nurtured those around her. She loved creating cherished moments filled with laughter and found joy in the kitchen where she shared her love through cooking, often with a fondness for seafood and Portuguese cuisine. She was also an avid sports fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics and enjoyed watching games with family. And she adored flowers, angels and celebrating special occasions.
She is survived by her husband Gil N. DaCosta, son Gil F. DaCosta and his wife Kristine of Taunton, son James DaCosta and his wife Samantha of Lakeville, son Joseph DaCosta of Taunton, and daughter AnnMarie Cosmo and her husband William of Taunton; grandchildren Jessica, Nathan, Kathleen, Brandon, Alissa, Eden Marie, and Derren; great grandchildren, Logan, Matthew and Kiernan, and several nieces, nephews, and beloved family members, both immediate and extended.
Family and friends are invited to attend a wake to celebrate Bertha's life on Thursday, June 13th, 2024 at O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home located at 70 Washington Street, Taunton, from 5-7 PM. A funeral Mass in remembrance of her life will be held at St. Anthony's Church, 126 School Street, Taunton on June 14th at 11 AM. Following the mass, she will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 475 E. Britannia Street, Taunton.
