In Taunton, Barbara Wordell, age 92, passed away on January 1, 2024 at Morton Hospital following a brief illness. Barbara was the wife of the late Norman B. Wordell of Berkley. She was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Frank Andrade and Helen (Dempsey) Andrade. Barbara lived most of her life in Berkley and was formerly of Fall River. She attended schools in Fall River and was a graduate of Bridgewater State University with a masters degree in education. Barbara was employed as a physical education teacher for the Town of Westport. She enjoyed yard sales, flea markets, Dunkin Donuts coffee, scratch tickets, visiting the casino, coaching basketball, was an author, and above all cherished her time with family. Barbara is survived by her beloved children; Carolyn Folsom of Fall River, Jean Wordell of Berkley, Elisabeth Longo and her loving partner Bob Durkee of Taunton, Alison Wordell and her loving partner Chad Shiverdecker of Taunton and her late son Jonathan Wordell. She was the sister of the late Paul and F. Robert Andrade, and lovin grandmother of; Shaun, Matthew, Kammie, Bethany, Cody, and Chad, Heather, and many great grandchildren. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday, January 8th from 9:30-11 am. Followed by a funeral home service at 11 am.
