Barbara Gauthier

In Taunton, Barbara Gauthier, age 79, passed away peacefully at Morton Hospital on July 29, 2025 while surrounded by her loving family. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Arthur Gauthier. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, the daughter of the late Clinton Westgate and Mary (Newman) Westgate. Barbara had resided in Taunton most of her life. She attended Taunton schools and a graduate of Cassidy High School, later going on to graduate from St. Ann’s Nursing School in Fall River. Barbara was employed at Morton Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling to Europe with her husband, scrap booking, crocheting, and jigsaw puzzles, was an avid reader, and was a devoted and loving Grandmother that never missed an activity or sporting event. Barbara leaves her beloved children; David Gauthier and his wife Jean of Stoughton, Steven Gauthier and his wife Lisa of Taunton, and Michelle Tuffile and her husband Charles of Swansea. She also leaves her cherished Grandchildren; Matthew Gauthier, the late Andrew Gauthier, Conrad Gauthier, Ariel Pepin, Camden, Tucker, Hollis, Stuart, Celia, and Quinton Tufflile and the late Rebecca, Lucy, Benjamin, and Philip Tuffile. Barbara is also survived by her brother Paul Westgate of NH, and the late Donald Westgate. Funeral home visitation will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday, August 8th from 9-10:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton at 11 am. Burial will be in the family lot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
